19-year-old passenger killed in Halloween night SUV crash

A 19-year-old passenger in an SUV was killed in a crash Thursday night in Roselle, officials said.
The crash took place at about 11:40 p.m. when the driver — the woman’s 27-year-old brother — struck a curb while driving west on Chandler Avenue at the intersection of St. George Avenue, Roselle police said.
The SUV then went through a fence and an open lot before coming to a rest in a Wawa parking lot, officials said.
Jayla Pryor, of Linden, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her brother, also of Linden, had minor injuries.
“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of Jayla Pryor,” Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw said in a statement. “No family should have to endure such a tragedy. The entire Roselle community stands with the Pryor family, and we send our prayers and support as they navigate this difficult time.”
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Roselle police crash investigator Derrick Bembry a 908-259-4019 or email him at [email protected]
